Tired

I have two posts in drafts, 8 ideas in my Idea Bank and yet i cannot write.

im sick of words. Tired of thinking. Done with analyzing. Gave up on compartmentalizing. Too lazy to recall.

I’m BORED. i’m EXCITED. i’m RESTLESS. I’m ANXIOUS.

I’m a mix of emotions today.

Prolly bcos of the lousy Monday Morning start i had. Bad tudung day + late + drowsy cough syrup effect + itchy throat + tiring sleep = Zombie Me.

I’m getting tired at this job also. Having nothing to do… or rather, nothing challenging enough. my mind is getting number and duller by the day! I wish for a good transfer + fat raise in salary.

My Mother In Law

Finally i’ve found this picture that Zubair sent me way back then.

It’s my parents-in-law’s wedding photo prolly 1980 or earlier.

Notice that his father was super thin?

And Ammi’s wedding dress is awesome. Check out the box handbag. and im sooo loving the accessories. ie the nose stud and hmmm headlace (as opposed to necklace?).

I hope to post her latest pictures in the near future!

Little India Gets Ready for Deepavali

<

Deepavali is an Indian celebration which falls on 8th Nov this year.

Little Indian is swimming in lights right now.

That’s just in front of the only 24-hr shopping centre in Singapore, Mustafa.

We went into the bazaar and to my delight there were a lot of lehngas. i feasted my eyes on the various colours and sequins… i want ALL of them!! hahaha but to my dismay, more are in short sleeves than long sleeves and their tops are just too damn short! I imagine if i raise my hand, everybody can see my navel!

Zubair befriended the shop owner who happens to be from Lahore too! They exchanged numbers! Zubair has a strange habit. You know when we meet people, we shake their hands, right? When Zubair is excited and having a common topic to talk about, he would offer his hand again and again through out the conversation. I should try to film it one day! *winks*

Oh i wanted to survey the prices so that i can compare if the one in Pakistan are cheaper or not. A 5 metre sequin raw Sari i enquired was in the region of $70s and tailoring charge was $78. The ready made long sleeve lehngas at Zubair’s new found friend’s shop is $85 but they one i fell in love with, a black with silver sequins, is $130!! SGD 130 x 40 = PKR 5,200!! Imagine, he bought for me the wedding lehnga was PKR 35,000!!!

And im wondering, will it be worth it to buy from Pak when i can get cheaper ones from Singapore? OK the advantage is, if i buy there, Ammi can help sew it for a perfect fit. Sighh. Dear God, please protect me from over spending. Ameen.

Luckily, i didn’t have any cash in my wallet. Otherwise, i would have already spent $40 on hennah! its $5 on one side of the hand and $10 for 1 foot. I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEe henna!! But i prefer it when the paste is still on my hand and not after it’s left the stains only. I wish there was henna in the paste colour! HAHAHA but of cos there are highly harmful chemicals in the black henna pple use to make temporary tattoos!

Those are the designs of my wedding henna. I prefer designs with straight lines (moroccan) as opposed to flowery as the stains would make my hands look swollen!

It was also a pity i didnt take more pictures. I wanted to capture the atmosphere of the bazaar and the kinda things that they sell there. We even went through the bazaar again on the way to the MRT but i lost my nerve. You see, i wanted to take pictures of the idols and the leis (indian version of cos) but firstly, i was afraid the stallkeeper would mind, secondly, i was afraid the idols would haunt me back home! LOL

Zubair bought a $1.90 shades from Little India

ANYWAYYYYYYY!!!!!

I finished my last piece of tissue, while at Dhoby Ghaut MRT on the way home. I was SUPER worried as i was having some flu side effects from the flu vaccination i took the day before and i had used 8 pcs of tissues (scantily) for the past 2hrs. i dont think i can last thru the 45min journey! Unfortunately, Zubair didnt bring his handkerchief also!

I was sniffing a lot in the effort to NOT let the cooties drip! Then i pretended to wipe sweat using fingers hahaha then i ABSOLUTELY HAD to wipe my nose with my sleeves! But i made sure it was very brief so pple wont notice or something. It was soooo disgusting and uncomfortable! i took consolation that Zubair was the one who suggested that, meaning he’s not too disgusted at me lah.

some 20min later, after holding back sneezes.. i really cldnt take it anymore and i nudged the aunty next to me and asked, “Excuse me Aunty, do you have any tissue? Mine’s finished already” She was rather unfriendly and passed to me a piece (JUST ONE PIECE!!!) without saying a word and i think she even rolled her eyes! So i stopped myself from asking her for the whole packet!

It wasn’t enough that 1 piece. in a few minutes, every inch of that tissue was used. i had to “reuse” it repeatedly even tho it was already wet as hell! Erghhh As soon as i dropped at Woodlands MRT, i went to the toilet and blew my nose to my heart’s content then grab some tissues take away.

Anyway, at some point of the journey, a seat became vacant next to that unfriendly Aunty’s friend. I took it. SHe was quite fidgety also, i wonder why. Then suddenly she went a bit forward like adjusting in her seat when suddenly she FARTED lah!!! it wasn’t loud enough for the whole carriage to hear but it was loud enough for a 1metre radius! God, good thing most of the time i am able to switch on and off my smelling senses.

I cldn’t see her face but i saw she was drumming her fingers. I suspected she intended to make it a SILENT KILLER, but got SHOCKED when it GUNNED out! HAHAHAH

What a night.

Xiaxue’s Afraid of Lizards too!

Xiaxue is one of Singapore’s Top Bloggers. I’ve been following her blog for prolly a year now and even read her archives.

Anyway, she hates lizards too! But i’d say she’s much BRAVER than me bcos she hates them sooo much she can KILL THEM! she can even photographed them dead lah!! i wish i have the courage.

Here’s the link and below is the excerpt and my comments at intervals:

Yesterday I bought a lo mai gai (is it spelt like that?) and I put it on the kitchen table for maybe 1 hour… The damn thing was wrapped inside 1 paper bag and the paper bag was wrapped in a plastic bag.

I took up the package, wanting to microwave it, and midway during the journey to the microwave a HUMONGOUS LIZARD JUMPED, literally JUMPED, out of the plastic bag.

He flew up scrabbling and wiggling in midway (in a rather comical way, if I were not the victim) landed with a heavy and cold THUD on the crook of my arm.

I screamed cold murder and flung both lo mai gai and lizard away while running to the bedroom and whimpered to a sleeping and confused Mike.

Amazingly enough, the lizard managed to get through both paper and plastic bag to get to the food.

AND WHAT THE FUCK ARE LIZARDS DOING EATING LO MAI GAIs ANYWAY?

Don’t people who defend lizards always say, “Oh, lizards are good what, they eat our pests!”

IT IS ALL A FACADE I TELL YOU! (I soooo agree with you!!!)

Lizards like our human food just like cockroaches do, and what’s worse, they PRETEND to eat mosquitoes and the like!

CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME, IF YOU ATE LO MAI GAIs WILL YOU STILL GO AND EAT FLIES AFTER THAT??No right?! (Oklah, prolly he was eating the ANTS around the food? OMG have i just defended the notorious CICAK species?!?!?!?)

GrrrrI swear, these fuckers just hate me!!!!!NOBODY ELSE HAS SUCH FREQUENT LIZARD TRAUMAS!!!

Maybe they know I enjoy killing their kind. Oh yes I’m gonna redouble my efforts in killing you all you know, you dirty ugly wonky-eyed muthafuckers!!!!!!I’d extend my reign of terror to Macau, where I will also kill the lizards there!! (Yes yes!! please Kill all the cicak in the world! U’ll be our Superhero!)

P/S: Here’s a photo of a lizard I smacked to death with my bathroom slipper.
Disgusting, isn’t it? (OMG, i cant even bear to look!)

It totally serves him right because he was hiding BEHIND THE TOILET ROLL.

I cannot comprehend why anyone would go hide behind toilet rolls unless their purpose in doing so is to unleash themselves upon innocent girls who unfurled the roll of paper to wipe their asses. (Imagine them clinging to the paper and u wiped ur butts with it! OH GOD!! *puke puke*)

That place (behinde the toilet roll) is not particularly fragrant and it is definitely not a good insect-catching spot.

Therefore, this lizard is evil.

Since he is evil, I chased him into the shower area and sprayed him with terribly hot water and when he is momentarily paralyzed, smacked him with my bathroom slipper.

SMACK!

Once, and he twitches.

Oh, still alive, aren’t you?

SMACK!A last feeble twitch.

SMACK SMACK SMACK SMACK SMACK SMACK SMACK!

Flush corpse into toilet bowl. Revenge is sweet. (HOw did she freaking pick it up, man!!! I cant Imagine even lifting it up with thick newspaper. I can just feel the body weight, the shape, the sliminess!! )

I killed one more lizard with this method. That lizard also deserves it because he was drinking water from my bathroom.

We have to pay rent and water bills of the precious water he is drinking, and did he ask permission? NO. Sorry, water not yours to drink, therefore deserve to DIE.

Besides, he was probably the one who dared the toilet-roll-lizard to sit there and hop onto my hand after I shat, thinking it is very funny. (Oh yeah. damn funny!)

Interrogative Tensions Transferred

I tot my problems would go away when i relented to stop, in his words, “interrogating” him.

No, it has since multipied bcos now i have no answer to the Investigor-in-Chief. My mother.

Mum: Where Zubair said he was going?
Me: Dont know
Mum: Bcos Abg Fai saw him at Orchard
Me: *shrug*

Mum: What was he doing loitering outside the front door in the middle of the night?
Me: *blank look*

Zubair told mummy earlier that he was going to Causeway Point. Now it’s 7pm, we were having dinner. Kak Ly bought only 5 packets of food from Banquet, so mummy asked,

Mum: Zubair has eaten already, right?
Me: Dont know
Mum: How can u not know. u should ask what!
Me: No i cannot ask him things anymore
Mum: How can like that?
Me: I guess the correct question to ask is whether he wants to eat or not, not whether he has eaten.

Zubair ever asked me dont i get tired of my mother’s questions? I said, No. In the first place, we always tell her things and we like to talk about our day or our plan for tmrw bla bla bla… We’re family what. Isn’t that what families do??

I guess, in the past, I’ve never felt irritated by those questions most of the time bcos i’ve never had anything to hide. I did when i had something up my sleeve but im not a good liar, she’d also find me out. And now i’m experiencing the same mood again but this time is bcos i dont know the answers to her questions.

I already sighed to her so many times, “Please dont ask me anymore. I dont know anything.”

Visiting Neighbour’s House

You might have seen in the comments thread, the difficulty to meet with a neighbour! heheh

But suddenly, they called us over Tues night. and we were served with these:

Fried Macaroni, Tofu salad w hot peanut sauce and fried chicken (marinated with Hmmm black pepper and……. what eh kak Is? Forgot already what u told me! hahaha how to cook sey like this.)

Syifaa’ was introduced to new toys. Trucks and blocks. Boy’s toys. no pun intended! HAHAh

Syifaa’ always crawl while dragging something under her palm… but she was super delighted when she got the truck bcos they have wheels and she can drag them easily!

Unfortunately, we had to witness her desperate effort to pass motion (luckily, we’ve already eaten hehehe). She’s been having constipation and despite putting bullets into her, giving plum juice and some other medications for the past 2 months or so, she’s still having problem. A few hours before that nothing came out from her “pushes” except for blood. 😦

The Paedatrician said, she’s now afraid to pass motion and tried to suppress the feeling whenever she gets it. and its no wonder she’s phobic now bcos they are blood down there!

U hafta see her… Her face will turn red and her expression like, god Forbid, dying. mummy will help to press on her tummy in the hope it will bring them down. (doubt its scientifically effective though) and after she had finally pushed it out, she will be “lesu” … pale with lethargy?

My Poor baby Syifaa’. Please dont be afraid to shit, ok? and drink more water. Oh Allah please make her better. Ameen

Problems with My Pakistan Trip!!

In the very beginning, i planned to go back to Pakistan on 15th Dec 07 till 2nd Jan 08. Reasons being just received salary + 2 months AWS as well as it coincides with 3 Public Holidays.

The wedding was supposed to be just Before Eidul Adha ie 18th or 19th Dec and afterwards we will go to Murree – a mountain resort. My parents, Kak Long, Mak Long and Pak Long will be coming with us together on 15th Dec but they will come back 24th Dec.

Then Zubair suggested that we should go a week earlier to make arrangements for the wedding. (Tho i doubt very much we could achieve much in just 1 week.) and then there was the chaotic booking of the plane tickets. At first something like SQ dont have seats for the date we wanted, then the price has increased… then suddenly have seats on SQ… and then now we still wanted to make changes on the departure date! but thankfully, we were able to confirm 2 tickets for 8th Dec departure.

Now… i’ve already applied 6 days of annual leaves and 3 days of unpaid leaves to cover me from 15th – 31st Dec. I just need to ask Mike if i can take 5 more days of unpaid leaves prior to 15th Dec.

Me: Mike, You know i’m going to Pakistan in Dec right

Mike: Right

Me: Thing is, now we decided to go for 1 month, so i need to take another 5 days unpaid leaves on 10th – 14th Dec.

Mike: Why do you need to go for so long?

Me: I need to accompany my husband

Mike: Well.. i dont see that it’s worthwhile to go for so long when u’ve already finished ur annual leaves. And Dec is a busy month. But we’ll see what we can do.

He has been very stressed out lately and i think i added to his problems! I feel so guilty but i cant help it. There’s no better time to ask him.

And Zubair and i hafta go and come back together, otherwise, the ticket will be even HIGHER still. but he NEEDs to go on 8th Dec… not to mention i’m scared of taking the plane alone. and i can’t follow the others also bcos they will come back too early and of course i wanna spend some time with my Pakistani relatives too…. oh i dont knowwwwwwwwwww. PENING KEPALA!!! Headache!!

Well that’s one problem. Another one is I’m not really sure when the AWS (Additional Wage Supplement?) or Year End BOnus will be debited to us. Now with the increased cost of ticket, i NEED that AWS to add on. And if indeed im going earlier, then need money to spend too.. and to put deposits for the wedding thingy. (but im telling u we’re really gonna make a SUPER SIMPLE one just with families and a few close friends) Probably i’ll take a Staff Loan with no interest then they can cut from my Dec salary.

And then there’s an issue about accomodation. Zubair has already arranged with some difficulties from his friend to get the use of his empty house. for free. and now my parents and uncle/aunty are saying they DON”T WANT to stay there! What The!

OK i understand their predicament that they want more privacy (issue of awrah/covering). HOwever, I already told them they can live on separate floors if they dont want to hafta wear tudung all the time. the bathrooms ARE attached… (if im not wrong) and then Zubair said the good hotels are about 30min away from his house.

Ya Allah, please ease the planning, execution and return of this trip. Ameen.

The best way to SHop!

www.tatarah.com.sg

It’s the new way to bid for the things you have been eyeing for. Get this: The LOWEST but UNIQUE bidder wins!!!

In the event that there’s NO lowest unique bidder, they will pick the earliest bidder from the lower bidding group.

The things are brand new. Minimum bid is $0.01.

The only downside is, each bid will incur a processing fee in the region of $1 – $3… and i dont think they show other bidders’ amount.

But the products that are up for auction are just about the things you need! ok… WANT. hahaha

I’m definitely going for the PSP… and maybe iPod for Zubair. OH yes a watch for him too… and Spa would be nice… not to mention a heavily discounted shopping spree! Oh no… I’m going crazy!

Oh 26th October, 3pm. Please come soon! I wanna bid now!!!

Funny i’m writing about this for FREE! Humph!
