I can’t think right now.
Totally swamped at work! But i have a few t hings to say:
1. Tufeil regurgitated thru his nose! like 3 times the past couple of weeks! it trickled out when he was sitting upright too!! What m i doing wrong?!?! Poor baby.
2. I was on MC yesterday. Doc said i have a CYST. a MILK cyst and she popped me with a pin and told me to use warm towel. Didn’t get 2 days as intended. I sooo dont have time to do all this remedying regime at home, and no stuff at work. Am i doomed for pain all my BF-ing life then?
3. I HATE MY ROOM!!! It’s a MESS MESS MESS!!!! I hate to admit that the cot/playpen has indeed turned into a storage space the past few months. I planned to buy two Winnie the Pooh storage boxes to put his toys and books. Instead, i was given an ugly looking drawer! I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO TIME TO CLEAN UP MY WORDROBE!!!
Somebody PLEASE babysit TUFEIL for meee!!!!! *Crying crying*
4. Even without the wheels, Tufeil has been moving around in that walker of his! So strong!?
5. Muslim staffs got their salary 5 days early! Weee…
6. On top of everything else, there’s a bee buzzing on my hp. SHOO! Go away!
Lenovo VS DELL

-
Wireless Mouse and Keyboard = 1 wire set up
-
4 GB Ram
-
2MP Built-in Webcam
-
4-in-1 Remote
-
TV Tuner!!

- Studio Dell One 19
I Like it for its:
- Wireless Keyboard and Mouse
- 4GB Ram
- TOUCHSCREEN!!!
- Easy purchase ie phone order and delivery
- QUAD processor to make it faster
Price: S$2,062.71
incl 3 yrs warranty and 3yrs anti-virus software.
So both computers got the 3 major things that i want: Wireless keyboard & mouse, 4GB Ram & Built-in webcam although Dell’s is just 1.3MP.
Now, i’m debating whether I need the TV feature or the TOuchscreen feature more.
My room is small so I can’t put a TV in my room after the pc. But will it work like a NORMAL TV with CABLE channels??? I have an SCV box in my room but we’ve changed to MIO now. Hmmm
Touschreen is FUN for children (read: Tufeil & Syifaa’) not to mention a natural reflex. However, for now not many applications support this feature as yet.
Dell’s Studio One 19 do come with a non-touchscreen version but not Quad processor @ $1,399 excl all the upgrades i’d like. Imagine it will come up to S$1,500.
Oh God!! Which Shall i buy???
Duit
Just one week after Pay Day i had $0 to my name.
I had swiped the card a little too often last month thinking i had a lot of money with the bonus i had.
A new monthly payment slightly more than $100 had also dawned on me. ANd the new working hours saw me spending more on transportation.
I didnt feel the pinch last month cos of the extra money i had… but with Hari Raya looming, i’ve bought a few things and there are a LOT more things to buy!!! namely my FIRST DAY of Eid’s outfit, curtain, lenses. Thank god the last one is claimable thru benefits! and FOrtunately, Tufeil already has 3 outfits. I only bought 1, the other two were gifts.
I cant believe i’m such a spender. When i had just started work, i was so good at saving. NOw! Am Surviving on my secret bank account. Thank God its fasting month so i dont hafta spend during lunch time so much.
My Nice Weekend
$2 per ride.
I checked out Maternity Exchange… They have a lot of nursing top options, even long sleeved one. Now that i’ve bought a pair of “sleeves”, i can wear short sleeved with it. Another alternative is a cardigan with a sleeveless dress.
Its rental rate is 4pcs @ $129 thereabout. Rental period is 4 weeks and u can rent up to 2 items at a time. There were several that i liked but somehow i hesitated. And Tufeil was also cranky, so i made my excuses.
In the end, i decided NOT to waste my money since i’ve just bought 2 nursing tops from Perfect Mum. (The gal was so nice, she suggested to send back to the tailor to put on long sleeves at only $5 for both!) And bcos, the only time i’d really need to wear a nursing top is at weekends when i go out w Tufeil which is like prolly 8days a month, out of which, i also have many other “normal” clothes option.
And to think that the week leading to that day, i was almost hyperventilating with excitement waiting to have a look-see.
Tufeil was already asleep. We took the chance to have tea and Choc ice blended and MONSTER Cookie at Starbucks. Z’s treat too. $15?
The best part of all was shopping at John Little. I have $100 shopping voucher from our D&D lucky draw. The deeper you went in, the more things you see… OUtside was just cosmetics and toiletries which i was sooo not interested. Then i saw bags and shoes. I picked 2 and a pair respectively. After that was the GLORIOUS Baby section!!! hahahah its really just normal but i had FREE money to spend was the nicest thought of all!
So from this section, i bought:
- 2boxes of Avent Breasts pads (3pairs) @ $20 each
- A Colourful Flexible teether toy $12
- Teats for my Avent Cups but realised that i need the white screw top which i cldnt find.
- Life Buoy refill hand wash
Moreover, NTUC members get a further $5 discount for every $40. The kind sales assistant even calculated and separated my bill to $55 each so i could enjoy $10 off on top of my $100 voucher. I paid just $25 extra for my purchases.
Only, sadly, cldnt get the brand of diapers and wet tissues that i want =( But Gosh it was fun. Because i truly shopped unhibittedly (is there such a word?) while T & Z did their father & Son thing. Otherwise, i would constantly worry if the stroller is in other pple’s way, if my son would get bored, if he’s hungry or whatever whatever.
With all those bags, we took a cab home.
Cukur Rambut, Hospital Bill, Circumcision and Language
Fri, 17th April
Tufeil turned 3 weeks yesterday!!
and he had his cukur rambut (shave head) just now. We called the Sri Nada guy to come over to our house and paid $30 for his service. We havent weighed nor converted into gold tho. The culture in Pak would pay in Silver. He said its because guys can’t wear gold. But they cant wear silver either can they?
Oh yeah and i also received the FINAL HOSPITAL BILL yesterday.
The first one came was for me. The delivery suite charges, ward, food, medicines, etc came up to S$3,570.98. But after a government grant of $1,513.60, and antenatal claim of $417.55, my Medisave account paid 100% of it and even had a balance of $238.62 due to me! Alhamdulillahhhh
But i cldnt rejoice yet until i got Tufeil’s hospital bill. 1 day in Neonatal ward class B2 = $75. 5days in Special Care Nursery Class C = $1,225. Total $4,279.80. Total payable after government grant = $0.
Alhamdulillah. I am sooooooooo thankful to God I don’t hafta pay anything. I was worried cos i heard a lot of pple had to pay some $3 – 4k!! But because I had gone thru the polyclinic route n got all those grants. The one and only downside of it was Husband could not room in with patient in the ward before n after delivery because it was a B2+ ward shared among 5 patients.

We have so many things to do. After the Cukur rambut, we hafta think about circumcision.
Actually i’m not totally convinced that we should get it done during his infancy ie before he starts to crawl. Although I agree that there would be less hassle doing it earlier, I feel that the boy needs to experience it when he’s older and better appreciate the meaning of it.
But then again, the trend is for babyhood circumcision and i would risk making the boy feel insecure or be bullied / tormented by his peers by doing late. I know i’m thinking too much into the matter and should just get it over with.
However, the Question now is WHEN and WHERE can i do it? Then a relative said something about the Ring method will not give a nice…. hm… er… effect as opposed to thread. ERRRRR???? I have no idea, no idea at all! HELP!

Although sometimes its irritating when Zubair stopped me from speaking in Malay to Tufeil, its kinda cute that he wonders, “What if he dont know how to speak Urdu and talk to me in Malay?”
LOL. I told him to just keep talking Urdu to baby and he will understand and speak it to the right person. I gave Fara’s children as example. They automatically know what lang to use to speak to which person. And he was comforted. I hope. haha.
Physiotherapy
Ohhhhh Rehabilitation Department is for Physiotherapy, orthodont%^$%#$% and something..
The moment i saw that sign, i then had a clear view what the appointment is about. Curled toes. Only the physiotherapist who attended to my baby said check up is a month later and its only been 3 weeks.
In any case, Alhamdulillah, the P said his curled toes is very minor and that we should just continue taping his toes together until they review in 3 months’ time. I also just understood what the whole Curled Toes thingy is about. The 5th toe growing UNDER the 4th one. So the tape is to separate them and align them nicely. She also showed us an exercise we should do to ther baby’s feet for 10seconds 10 times a day holding his bent knee to keep his feet firmly on the ground.
I also told the P that the doc at Poly noticed a tendency for a club foot. After some inspection she said the doctor is right. My heart dropped but lifted again when she said that its very minor because Tufeil actually knows how to correct it himself. Just that in a relaxed position, his feet tend to go “senget” (Crooked). So when we notice him doing that, we’re supposed to tickle the outer part of his feet so he’ll go back into correct position.
Consultation fee: $15.50
Taxi cost: $15.50 x 2
Shopping total: $200++…
hahahah I went crazy at Mothercare just now. I bought two nursing “aids” and the accompaniment $100. There was a nice nursing top but its like $55, so i tot i should rethink that first. PLUS, the sleeve was more like 3 quarter as oppose to full sleeves.
Then i bought a toy and a baby CD for baby $30 x 2. The toy is fabulous. Cos i wanted a mirror for him to look at (i read that babies like to look at their reflection) and Zubair wanted some musical toy and this toy has both!
Then i spent $68 on new specs! bendable ones! and they will even deliver right to my doorstep in 4 days’ time!
But i still need contact lens for my D&D. No way im gonna wear SPECS on such a grand night! Or maybe ill just buy a pair from Ash first. hah
thats it for now!
Baby Things Shopping!
So i was on leave the past two days. It was nice to get to sleep in and stay up late. hehe
The purpose of the leave was to springclean the room before the baby comes and prepare whatever other things it may need.
On Sunday, working for almost 3 hours, i managed to get a headstart to the spring cleaning clearing out the wardrobe. Now the tudung drawer is all nicely folded. It used to be in a BIG MESS i had to forage around throwing all out to search for a matching scarf every night and then dump it all backed in in sheer disarray. i threw away 1 big bag of old clothes (to be recycled that is).
Now that was out of the way, Mon i worked on the bag, books and toiletries section of the wadrobe. I even managed to empty one big section where files and bags used to be. Can put more baby stuffs in there. This resulted in two bags to be thrown away. one containing old bags and dustry paper bags that i dont care to keep any longer. This took me 1.5hrs
Now today Tuesday… is the best part of the preparation… SHOPPING. initially wanted to go to Jurong POint but we prioritised sleep so just ended up at causeway point. We went to just one shop ie Mothercare because Z was pressed for time. Thankfully the kind sales assistant allowed us to use my sister’s membership just by giving her my sis’ contact no.
These are the things we bought:
- Changing Mat @ $6.93
- BABY CARRIER (Mothercare brand with 3 ways) @ $80.10
- BMilk Storage the plastic thingy Lansinoh brand @ 16.20 for 25pcs
- Newborn Huggies 24pcs @ $6.93
- 2 x newborn vest @ $11.70
- Nursing bra @ $38
Total $170.93.
Am very satisfied with my buys. But did forget to buy another tube of Stretchmark cream and baby bedsheet.
I would say im almost completely ready for baby’s arrival now, in terms of material save for stroller. As for everyday toiletries. Im hoping to use from hospital’s sample for the first few days first.
Speaking of which… i will need an electric breast pump. I already have the manual one from my sis for the first few tryouts. But with my injured hand,i think i will NEED the electric one. Does anybody has one to LOAN or to sell???
Let’s just hope i can be mentally and physically ready for the baby in a timely manner.
PS: Yayyy my boss said the temp will start this thurs!!
Labour, Delivery & Pain Relief
Wed 11th Feb 09
Again i was the first one in. The Instructor was a first timer – excited yet inexperienced. So the “lecture” was a bit boring and took longer time to finish.
Today is the overview of the whole process.
So there are 3 stages of labour
1. First Stage – Contractions
2. Second Stage – Delivery of Baby
3. Third Stage – Delivery of Placenta
Early contractions, the instructor told us, would normally come by the hour for 10 – 20seconds. But as time passes, It will come in shorter and shorter gaps yet more intense. Something like every 5 min that lasts for 1min.
To cope with the pain, it is good for the spouse or birthing partner to know where to rub the aching body parts, to learn the breathing and relaxation exercises which is the topic for next week’s lesson. I begged and begged and begged Zubair to come for just this one most imp topic and he said ok he will try to arrange. Let’s hope he could really make it.
I heard gasps when the instructor clicked for the next slide on 2nd stage of delivery. I was wearing specs but still cldnt quite figure out what the picture is but i quickly trained my eye on the drawing instead of the REAL picture before i turn jelly all over!
This is the part when she said that we will have the room to ourselves in the delivery suite with a couch for the spouse to rest. She reminded the husbands to bring along sweaters because it will be very cold in there. While they provide blankets for the mummies, they cant give for the guys.
She also said to make sure the husbands have dinner if it seems to be a long haul. This is because the shops near KK close very early… but i think Z will have no problem walking to Lil India where its a 24hrs food haven as we usually do after check ups.
The other thing is really Guys dont hafta show ur machoness. If you think you can stand looking at the blood, please dont look. Because if you faint, and worse if u knock your head after seeing the goriness of it all, nobody has the time to attend to you until AFTER the team has settled mother and baby.
Lastly, Birthing partners please have some rest in between contractions or when the wife is dozing off. Dont act so gung-ho else you might be too tired you’d miss the actual delivery. This has ever happened before!!
A new thing i learnt is the position of the perenium. All this while i thought its a horizontal cut when it is actually vertical. Its the space between the V and the Anus. *shudder* The nurse actually described how the docs will decide to cut or not. Its when the area is stretch too thin it would become so white and like about to burst. so before it cracks, better to cut it clean. Jelliness!
The actual Labour – where u start pushing i think – should take only between 30min – 1.5hrs. Any longer, the gynae will hafta think of some kind of intervention. Forcep, Vacuum or c-Sect. Even after she explained, i can’t imagine how this forcep thing works. Do i dare to research more by googling for its image? Maybe not. Vacuum ok its a lil cup on the head on the baby that they will pull slightly to tug/encourage it out with the next contraction.
Next she explained the Pain Relieves available at KK Hospital. There are 3: Pethidine, Gas, Epidural.
Pethidine is a drug that they will jab at the thigh. Only relieves 60% of the pain and not advisable if delivery is expected within the next 3 hours. This is because this drug has effect on mother n baby such that both will become drowsy. And if Baby is borned within 3hrs after taking the drug, baby might be sleeping n not able to cry n exercise the lung. HOWEVER, there is an antidote to reverse this effect.
GAS to me seems the safest option. A mix of Nitrogen (if im not wrong) and Oxygen, u only need to breathe in deeply with the next contraction and it will be effective in 10 – 20 secs. No effect on baby.
EPIDURAL is the last resort with 100% of the pain gone. She said the procedure to get this epidural will take about 20mins or so… i was wondering what if there’s a contraction in between??? Will the needle go astray when we squirm? You can actually choose to stop the epidural when u need to start pushing but u can also have it thru out. I sincerely hope i wont hafta come to this.
I had to ask my friend the next day how does the delivery suite look like. I had the impression that we would be delivering in a communal room just like a ward with 4 other pple inside! Cos i remember my mum telling me she could hear other women screaming. But maybe those were old times. So i imagined this suite is like for private patients and not for subsidised ones like me. Then how more private can a PRIVATE delivery suite be? *looks at Ma* hehehe
Also my concern is that, do i hafta continue covering my head? Doctors and nurses are excused of course… but i was afraid there might be some pple who got lost n peered inside… or if i would need to walk out to go to the toilet… My friend assured me tho that its all in the one room.
This friend also told me that she didnt hafta fork out any cash at all for her hospital stay even tho she had an epidural for the first one and a C-Sect for the second one. She also went thru Polyclinic like i am. Although i still have yet to confirm with the hospital, I felt sooooooo relieved! I’d take it to mean that even if somehow the rules have changed a bit, can’t be too high.
I was told to prepare $2k or more just for hospital expenses. Some for deposit, and then additional charges that Medisave cannot cover and the fees escalate when u take more and more services.
Do i dare to breathe a sigh of relief? Ok just a bit. But still need to keep that money on standby lah! But at least im hoping there won’t need to use it so i could spend it on getting more baby stuffs. Yayyness!!
So I had the FULL Eye Treatment, i think.
Last night was the 2nd time i went to NYSkinSol.
They first told me that i can use my CC to get 0% installment free. tonight they told me that i had to make full payment in order to get that benefit. Because instead of $570, i wanted to just pay $300 first using CC.
Some more can chide me, “Aiyah you… how come cannot pay in full one?” I replied sternly, “cannot. no space.” My credit limit is just $500 lah deng deng! And there’s already something in there.
At first i wanted to scold her again that she charged an additional $21 on my card. Lucky i didnt blurt unthinkingly cos i realise its the 7% GST.
During that trial, i was surprised that she was the one who attended to me. These consultants usually have assistants to do the dirty job while they themselves talk to prospective clients. As it turned out, only for the trial she did for me. 2nd time onwards will be her assistant. Cheh!
The assistant cleansed my face first. I pointed out to her that i have a pimple on my eyebrow, so she went and squeezed it! OUCH! I was like… er… shouldn’t you be asking me first whether i wanted it squeezed or not? Because i tot that the more u squeeze, the more it will leave a scar???? ok whatever.
After that, she put a hot eye pad. DAMN HOT! i sizzled. and she said, “Hot meh??” Yeah lah! U think what? she removed one pad and gently put it back again turning it every so often. The unpleasant part is that she pressed down against my eyeball. Felt a bit giddy from it. and i KNOW my body, after this when i open my eyes will surely blur one. and it did.
Next is the cold pad. Cold pad is no problem, even when she pressed down a bit is ok. and what surprised me afterwards was she put back the hot one then the cold one again several times. Isn’t quick change of temperature on ur body not good for you??? What more so many times at it.
Anyways Hot pad is good for dark circles and cold pad good for eye bag. She didn’t explain to me though HOW GOOD it will do to my eye. Like what’s the process of improvements. GRRRR
Then There’s this pencil like equipment that she used around and around my eye. Something like to generate blood circulation?? I remember i had this on that first night also.
Later, a mask was put on and i was left for some 15 – 20min. I drifted to sleep the first half of it. When i came awake, i felt suffocated. My nose is too flat i think and the “extra skin” from the mask covered a bit of my nostril that hindered my breathing a bit. I tossed n turned till i couldn’t take it anymore, i pulled up the mask halfway just above the nose and it was bliss again.
but Not for long. Soon i was feeling claustrophobic. There was a handle bar at the side of the slim “bed” giving an aura of closing in. And suddenly the two pieces of blanket seemed to hot for me and lying down too long is taking a toll on my back.
She rescued me after a torturous 3min or so. Applied some cream and off i go.
I know i complained a lot. But i feel satisfied with the outcome. Perhaps im imagining it, but i DO feel that the dark circles lighten up slightly after the session.
Next appt is on 2nd Feb 09. I think after that then i will start going to the one 5min walk away from my home, i dont care.
