My Nice Weekend

19th July 09 (3.5months old)
Took the train to Marina Square. Towards the end of the ride, he got hungry and had to be carried to soothe his crying.
By the time i reached a vacant nursing room after 4 occupied ones, he had already fallen asleep. Furthermore, he kept smiling and smiling while drinking milk. He got VERY distracted by the foreign decor of the room that he’s never seen before.
After the mandatory Popiah, we went in search of Tufeil’s clothes and bought 2 bodysuits and 2 pants + 1 towel = $70. Z’s treat! Yayyyy
We saw that mobile animal rides. And Adults are sooooooo allowed on these rides!!! Z, seeing the childish side in me, actually suggested we take it. And we did. 3 times! One wasn’t enough for me esp cos we got off a slow start preparing the camera. So two for me and Z cldnt resist to take one himself.

$2 per ride.

I checked out Maternity Exchange… They have a lot of nursing top options, even long sleeved one. Now that i’ve bought a pair of “sleeves”, i can wear short sleeved with it. Another alternative is a cardigan with a sleeveless dress.

Its rental rate is 4pcs @ $129 thereabout. Rental period is 4 weeks and u can rent up to 2 items at a time. There were several that i liked but somehow i hesitated. And Tufeil was also cranky, so i made my excuses.

In the end, i decided NOT to waste my money since i’ve just bought 2 nursing tops from Perfect Mum. (The gal was so nice, she suggested to send back to the tailor to put on long sleeves at only $5 for both!) And bcos, the only time i’d really need to wear a nursing top is at weekends when i go out w Tufeil which is like prolly 8days a month, out of which, i also have many other “normal” clothes option.

And to think that the week leading to that day, i was almost hyperventilating with excitement waiting to have a look-see.

Tufeil was already asleep. We took the chance to have tea and Choc ice blended and MONSTER Cookie at Starbucks. Z’s treat too. $15?

The best part of all was shopping at John Little. I have $100 shopping voucher from our D&D lucky draw. The deeper you went in, the more things you see… OUtside was just cosmetics and toiletries which i was sooo not interested. Then i saw bags and shoes. I picked 2 and a pair respectively. After that was the GLORIOUS Baby section!!! hahahah its really just normal but i had FREE money to spend was the nicest thought of all!

So from this section, i bought:

  1. 2boxes of Avent Breasts pads (3pairs) @ $20 each
  2. A Colourful Flexible teether toy $12
  3. Teats for my Avent Cups but realised that i need the white screw top which i cldnt find.
  4. Life Buoy refill hand wash

Moreover, NTUC members get a further $5 discount for every $40. The kind sales assistant even calculated and separated my bill to $55 each so i could enjoy $10 off on top of my $100 voucher. I paid just $25 extra for my purchases.

Only, sadly, cldnt get the brand of diapers and wet tissues that i want =( But Gosh it was fun. Because i truly shopped unhibittedly (is there such a word?) while T & Z did their father & Son thing. Otherwise, i would constantly worry if the stroller is in other pple’s way, if my son would get bored, if he’s hungry or whatever whatever.

With all those bags, we took a cab home.

Bad Pants Day

Ok we’ve heard of Bad Hair Day, Bad Tudung Day but today is a Bad Pants Day for me.

Or rather, its a Bad EVERYTHING Day for me today. Everything’s gone wrong. I’m declaring today a Friday Blues.

Firstly I had a very late night last night. Slept at 2:30am!!!!!!!!! I could barely lift an eyelid this morning. But fought the urge to take urgent leave.

My hair just refused to dry in 5min making me late and i in turn made Ayah late =(

First, my blouse lost 2 buttons. Luckily its hidden under the scarf so i just pin a brooch there. But its a rather uncomfortable blouse anyways always had to be pulled down.

And then when i started to walk out from my room, my pants started coming down. See, i was given a size 7 at first but it was too tight. I went back to the shop to change to a size 11 instead to accomodate my tummy nicely. But now it keeps on sliding down and the top keeps going up. Every few steps i hafta tug here tug there. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE RIMASSSSSSSSS TAU TAKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!

My serkop (inner scarf) also feels unbalanced.

And i’ve started to sneeze. Im beginning to think its more that i sneeze when im tired than i’m tired when i start to sneeze.

I have a lunch appt with my colleague. Initially wanted to go to Amara which is about 10min walk away but changed to a nearer venue instead. and luckily its friday. Hopefully ayah can pick me up direct from my office as he usually does on Fridays.

Crocs Failed Me

During lunch at Marina Sq yesterday, my sandals decided to pop yet again.

This $40+ Bata sandals can only sustain 6 months of daily wear. I might as well just buy a $10 shoe that last just as long right?

Anyway i had 2 sandals with similar design as the above and both only lasted 6 months with the rip at the same place on my right foot! (Refer to Arrow above)

In any case, i used to wear this kinda ballerina shoes to work daily and the edges came off where the arrow starts anyways. My ELLE slip ons with short rubber heels were not spared. Within 6 months the hollow rubber cracked and water could seep thru in the rain. Ergh!

Peculiarly or not so peculiarly it only happened on my right pair! I think i use and stress more of my right leg when i walk and when i stand?

So Anyways, i decided to survey for a new shoes since we were having lunch at Marina Sq. You know… a chance to shop and like that… But there’s no Bata nor Metro to be found there. Only Charles & Keith and they are sooooooo not my kinda footwear. So i had to settle for just Crocs. I was telling myself, “Just look if they have new designs. Don’t buy if they’re not comfortable.”

You see… some 2 years ago i bought 1 just prior to my Bangkok trip, Thinking it must be comfy to travel and go for whole day shopping in. I WAS DEAD WRONG! Bcos i bought a size smaller and my toes were squashed in so much so i could barely walk! (I made the mistake of thinking RUBBER could expand when they soooo can not!) I ended up giving it away to Ashley (not her real name of course), my first sis.

When i got there, I went crummy seeing all the new designs. But all not practical for me except for this one. Another ballet inspired shoes. Looks something like prima but with wider mid section and an elastic band. This time i bought a brown one at close to $60.

This time i bought size 7. When i tried it on my right it was a perfect fit. So i went to make payment and said i’d wear it straight away. But my face fell when i slipped on the left pair. Its slightly tight! I straight away asked them if i could return it if i decided the size doesnt fit later on. The manager said, “Cannot bcos u put it on already” Ergh!!

So my colleague and i rushed to try Size 8 before we walked out of the store! But with a size bigger my feet came off lah, Unless i wanna stick tissue at the front, which is ridiculous. So i settled for size 7 since the right one feels alright.

Now im anticipating that i cant wear it for long before my feet hurt. So i told Ash, she could buy it off me at discounted price but that i will try to continue wearing it till my feet get swollen first. Otherwise, i will just slap myself for buying it!

Hari Raya Before & After

I did the same picture entry last yr. So i shall document the same for this year as well.

First and foremost i am ashamed to admit that i didnt help cleaning the house at all this yr. Just helped to fill containers of cookies.. even then just halfway. Neither did i help mum with the 540pcs of ketupat this year save for a few pieces. I’m so bad… but i just cldnt muster the energy…

So what’s left is to clean and/or decorate my room. The most major thing to be done is to change the curtain. This hadnt been done even after 3 weeks of nagging! Granted, he was busy and always tired after practice. Me im in no state to be climbing around. So i had to recruit my dad instead

Zorro for the day.
“It has to get worst before it can get better” is a motto i live by when facing with cleaning challenges. LOL
And im so glad he helped me with this cos Ayah’s way of doing things are rather… clean. =) Got the vacuum out for the wooden pole after bringing them down. heheh SO DUSTY!! after what? 6 months? Must have been more. Ayah also helped to vacuum away the dust that’s actually ON the curtain itself.. *blush*
No wonder ive been sneezing a lot with all these dusts around.

Eyewwww my desk is such a clutter of mess! GRRRRRRRR *glare at somebody*

One day before Eid itself, i was on leave the whole day to spring clean. heheh but bcos i didnt sleep the whole night, i woke up late. And then discovered that the hub had to go out for practice AGAIN!!!! What the! This time, i really raised a storm. At that, The darling Zubair finally and hurriedly agreed to be home early and really help out with cleaning of the room.

And i’m so glad he did. He is sooo meticulous at cleaning… that is WHEN he gets around to do it! But really… he even makes the bed nicer and straighter than me *swoon*. I’m more of your average yet consistent cleaner. So in a way we complement each other lah. When we have our own house…. I’d have someone to do the annual Eid spring cleaning… Right now my first sis is the designated person.

And because the darling is tall, he could hang these flowers easily. I bought 3 strands at $2 each at Geylang the day before much at Kak Long disagreement. She said it would look ORBIT (ugly). She told me to get a $40 Long Tassels kinda curtain instead… But i wasnt really willing to part with so much money as i had other things to buy as well.

I assured her it wont look tacky. It looked so at the shop cos there were soooo much green everywhere… and PLASTICKY. Compromise was i’d just buy 3, if it is deemed unsuitable, i will just go with a bare wall.

So thank you Ayah, Thank you Z for your help.

Next is my Hennaed Hand pictures with stains on and then off:

Me, first sis and a cousin went to Geylang on Mon night, 2nd last day of Raya for all the last minute shopping. Bcos of my delicate state, i was pampered in that, they helped me to carry most of my shopping and believe i had quite a number of bags! 1 bagged like 5 items from Fara’s shop…. then a small carpet for my room, and the flowers and foodstuffs…

At first we planned to do my henna the FIRST thing when we reached there, so that it would have dried up by the end of our outing. But i went home to fetch the car first, and reached there later, and the girls were at the other end of the bazaar. I wanted to do my shopping first. That wld mean its impossible to be hennaed THEN shop. Like how do i get my money out and stuffs right?

So after rounding almost the whole stretch of geylang… (i had to beg Kak Long not to do one part of the bazaar cos i was dead beat after walking for like…. 3 hours + and it was already past midnight!!!!!!!!) We finally found a nice henna shop, Saheli BRidal. Looks professional with a few artists on hand, with lotsa sample albums.

But they charge a damn lot! Depending on the design it could be $5 – $20 per hand per side! I didnt find any designs that i like ie MOROCCAN designs. So i asked for a free hand moroccan instead and a $10 per hand on both hands. Now look what the artist did to me!

Stains on

Sheeshness!!!

I told the artist that i want MOROCCAN design. When she looked unsure, i said, you know… all straight, geometrical lines…? She asked me, “So u dont want flowers nor leaves?” TWICE. NO I HATE them on my hands! Those will make my hands look SWOLLEN lahhh!! I didnt say it out loud tho.

How skewed can your perception of STRAIGHT lines be?!?!? Its all curves and arches and dots and round clouds to me. I even had to INSTRUCT her i want TRIANGLES or zig zags on the rest of the fingers but she managed to add ROUND THINGS to it. YUCKINESS!!!

Stains off

At least it still looked ok with the stains on. But when its off. I feel soooooooooooooooooo snakeyyyy!!! I hate it i hate it!!!

The only thing that’s keeping me from washing it off with chlorine is that, an ugly henna is better than no henna, and that some pple actually said its nice. Let’s just bear with this for a week.

Second Trimester!!!

Amidst the drama of non-action, i totally forgot that as of last Tues, i’m officially in my 2nd trimester!!!

Ok round up of the first trimester:

1. Didnt even vomit a single time
2. Did feel giddy 2 – 3 times. (one being after reading in the train)
3. i cried ALL THE TIME!!
4. Missed Folic acid quite a lot, like a total of 15 days? Now also i stopped eating. Lazy & tired of popping pills.
5. Havent done any scans nor heard heartbeat.
6. Havent gained nor lost any weight.
7. Sometimes felt like my heart stopped when i sujud / procrastinate in prayer.
8. Disliked fish esp steamed ones and anything bland / non-spicy.

Now i read that this is time of rapid growth of the baby, the cervix will move higher up in the tummy and will begin to portrude and show itself.

Im torn between feeling embarassed if the tummy shows during Eid visits and between actually WANTING pple to know im pregnant. Esp bcos this will be the stage where pple think, “Is she pregnant or is she just fat?”

Zubair told me to get hmm some maternity wear. But im not so keen actually. Well maybe bcos Eid is coming and expenses will be high this month. Also the fact that i would only be wearing it for a few months turn me off. Esp since maternity clothes cost a bomb! Remember that maternity pants i bought at $70 during an emergency back then?

Ok maybe for tops, ill just buy the extra loose ones that can be unconscpicuously worn while not pregnant. But one thing’s for sure, i’ll be needing at least another 3 pairs of pants. cos some feels tight already!!! my favourite ones too! Boohoohoo… Alternative will be drawstring pants where waist is adjustable so can be worn after giving birth as well. But Giordano’s cutting for drawstring pants are rather narrow in the hips lah. I’m BIG and am just gonna get BIGGER. GRRRR

I’m also hoping that weekly check ups wont start till in the new year bcos I DONT HAVE ANYMORE MEDICAL LEAVE!!! not even a single day and i hafta take my annual leave of balance 2 days taken in halves for the rest of the year. HUMPH! I soooo begrudge somebody for putting me on medical leave for 10 solid days.

I sooo wanna start going to the gym again. Must stay Fit in pregnancy. But but but….. the gym is soooooooooooooooooooooo far away now and the walk to Chinatown involves A LOT of construction i can’t be bothered. I hope Boss will change gym soon!!

I will leave this entry with:

SMOKERS STAY AWAY FROM ME!

And so i Returned their Money…

If you remember, Last Jan, i took orders for punjabi suits .

If you remember, i had an accident while i was on holiday neither was there internet access at his home as his computer was down at that time. Then i tried to mms my clients to get them to choose which material they want but the MMSes never got thru to them. And i tot, nevermind lah i will post the pictures when i get back to Singapore and do the transaction via email or something.

Then another big hurdle of trying to translate the 5 measurement forms from English to Urdu. I couldnt figure out how to transfer the figures without having to rewrite ALL SETS over and over again and some measurements has extra instructions and specifications that was just IMPOSSIBLE to translate.

In the end, i tot just translate one form and ask Ammi to refer to that form for the others as the template is the same and besides she is a professional tailor she’d know how to estimate stuffs i imagine.

But there’s another problem. To match the measurement form with the picture of the material chosen for this or that person. Im telling u it was a complete headache. It was very bad of me to have procastinated for a long long time before i could settle the measurement.

It was April when i finally manage to write each information of each order into an email and send it off. By this time, their computer was ok so they could check their email.

I dont know why but after one month there was still no news. I kept asking Zubair to call and ask but everytime he would just say, “Darling, i suggest u just return their money lah.” BUt i told him, “Ok…. but i at least wanna know which part of the transaction went wrong. Is it no more material or cannot understand or what? At least i can explain to the rest mah”

This conversation repeated like 5 or 6 times… in the end i just ask which are ready so i can return the rest. Even that one Zubair cant answer properly. Dont know lah ur cousin’s red colour and your sisters i think. I ask, “My cousin didnt order red colour! and my sister’s all two sets or what?” a big DONT KNOW. And he’s telling ME to have some KNOWLEDGE?!?!?!?!?!?!

We wanted to send whatever that is ready thru my uncle who is visiting Old Lahore which is about 1 or 2hrs away. But even that he couldnt arrange properly. Granted He DID try to contact my uncle but his hp was off. But i dont suppose he tried very hard. How to register a business like this? OMG. *heart pain*

In any case, since i got some money, i quickly return everybody’s money. If it happens that any of their suits are ready i will give them THEN and they can pay THEN.

So i just got back from having lunch with my Japanese Aunty who works nearby and returned her $50. She was the one who was apologetic. I said no no it really is my fault. then she treated me with lunch at Wok Express =D

After that i straight away met my junior from sch who works even nearer to me. She also very cute one. very generous type. She ordered just 1 suit but gave me $50. But told me to return only $40 for all the arrangement that i have done thus far. She understands that its a very complicated process.

So yes. Today i feel very light and happy! I dont wanna owe anybody any money. Even though i let my customers down, we are still friends… and relative. =)

Specs VS Lenses

I first started wearing lenses back in 2003?

I started with a Honey colour blended bi-weekly ones. Crazy me. Then got that cornea ulcer. Stopped for awhile… and wore my specs… Daily.

I dont like to wear specs cos

  1. they make my nose look funny, just look at this pic taken back in Oct 06. But it does reduce the tembam-ness or chubbiness of my cheeks somewhat.
  2. I feel like specs are intruding my vision. i think its bcos of my SUPER LOW bridged nose, the specs tend to slide downwards and the rim descend to mid eye level. The rimless kind are much better but still funny when u can see it doesn’t cover my eye wholely
  3. i cant lean my face to the side when lying on bed to watch TV.
  4. Irritating when HOT and sweaty.

Then in Dec 2006 just before my trip to Bangkok i bought 3 pairs of boxes of 1-day lenses and started wearing them DAILY!! It was such a fuss lah. Must remember to wash hand, must remember to put on before wearing cream. Worse was i always had problem taking them out! (but not after my cousin Nur showed me how to remove it easily then i became confident.)

A year later, those supplies depleted. And I am not alone anymore and hafta consider my expenses carefully… So i DID buy another 3 pairs of boxes but am rationing them very very carefully.

So now i only wear them for special occasion when i feel i wanna look my best or when i wear make up. But bcos of that, i dont stretch the usage anymore to 3 days, not even for another day. Cos its too damn tedious. When im not wearing lenses, i dont even wear my specs since i dont really need to look far much being in the office all day and all… and my degrees are just 100 and 150.

Somehow, lately, i feel a bit irritated lah with this blurry vision. Esp bcos it stopped me from getting to drive! Like everytime Ayah asked if i could drive, i’d say o oh sorry not wearing specs.

So now… im back on specs. And suddenly i feel much more confident with crystal clear (well not exactly) vision. But i suspect it will not be long before i chuck it aside again… sigh…

Actually this story has no moral. (Pte joke with my sisters: cerita takde moral!!! LOL) Just to exercise my fingers typing. haha

The Journey Started…

Yup. I did feel overwhelmed n started to feel the dread to write. But at the same time my mind is bursting n fingers itching to write! Ironic!

Pakistan Internet Connection

You see… Zubair’s Pakistani pc is down n needed to be reformatted or smtg. so i had no access to internet. there were A LOT of internet cafes at the main streets n bazaars as well as petrol kiosks. but he didnt allow me to go to any of it bcos he said its not a gd place since most of the patrons go there to watch porn. Like.. huh???

Then on my 7th day, we finally managed to coax his cousin to bring his CPU n wireless phone to get connected. he fixed it fine tt night, I was too tired to login though as it was past 1am by the time we finished watching the old video clips he had in his pc… the the next day the internet refused to work!!! after that we spent the night at another aunty’s place for 3 days n the CPU was taken away… :(

On the last hours at Aunty Farzana’s house, i found out her neighbour has internet n went over to use it. Zubair warned me tt Pak’s internet is very slowe… i understood but didnt think it would actually take THAT long. It took like 5min to dial up n load the home page. Another 5 min to load my blogspot n yahoo mail… then suddenly the windows were not responding. so had to losde that n reload all over again. I started to draft a short note to say “im still alive” when the electricity played me out. I just gave me right then n there.

At the airport while waiting for our flight back to spore, we found free internet stations. But only had 20 mins, n still as slow as ever… perhaps just 30% faster. but shouldn’t that hv bn broadband???

i kept notes on my pda though n thank god for it else i would’ve forgotten everything only hafta rely on photos from mty camera… which i discovered i was quite shy to use. prolly bcos i was afraid pple wld get offended or my hp get robbed. haha

My First Flight Alone

That Sat of my flight was a hectic day with two morning classes on as usual. Fortunately, the 2nd class was down w 2 students which means i finish 1 hr earlier. Then i hailed the cab to The Harem – a Muslimah spa all the way in the east. I bought a package that would finish in 5 hours n it was 1pm when i reached there.

It was 6pm n we were doing the last part, hair treatment n my mummy being mummy, was URGED me to come down in 5 minutes or else! see… my parents were picking me up from the spa w my 2 packed luggages n then we’ll go straight to the airport. Crazy? prolly. but all in the name of meeting the hub after some 7 weeks!

Flight was due to take off at 9pm. why didnt i panic regardless of mum’s incessant reminders? cause i already checked in online. that’s why.

Nontheless, we reached there, slightly after 7pm, checked in the bags n got the boarding pass n even had time for a meal at popeye’s! Nur, Long n yayan came afterwards. n mummy measured nur n yayan right there! fortunately we had a corner table. hehe

At the checkpoint, i was holding back my tears. No i wasnt really sad to go. damn i was excited! i was just afraid of my impending 20hrs journey alone. What if i didnt make it back home? That would hv bn the last time i see them!

Alhamdulillah wa shukru lillah, SIN – BKK went fine. Before i was really worried abt how to spend my 12hrs transit at bangkok. Praise be to Allah, i took the lift to 3rd floor n when i turned left, i found a Muslim prayer room n swiftly decided to spend the night there.

Where i slept

I saw a Sudanese lady just settling in too. We shook hands n introduced ourselves. She’s Nawal who’s residing w her husband n children in nz, n making her way to Sudan. she asked me a few things abt Spore n how our muslims r doing there. We came to talk abt sudan and shia. she, at first, didnt know Shia existed. she said in Sudan, there are no sects. There are all muslims. Period. Only when she migrated to NZ did she hear about it.

cant help but be reminded of ahmad thompson’s travel, where he met a lot of Sudanese…
N me being alone, spendin the night in a musollah, just put me in an adventurous mode! LOL

i brought hawaiian chix n cheese sadwich fr spore. it was 8am n wanted to eat bfast but don wanna get too full i cant at on d plane so i offered this caucasian lady sitting next to me a half. She declined saying she’s hvg stomach prob. prolly she’s telling the truth but i cldn’t help imagining tt she didnt trust me. You know “dont talk to strangers (esp if they wear tudung)” n all.

so i went to offer a muslim bro at the prayer room. he said he’s full already n nobody else were there. he started asking me, “r u fr msia?” I said, “no spore” n he asked ph spore has muslims too? n i said yeah. craving to talk to somebody i asked him r u gg to pak? he said yes n i said oh we’re taking d same flight n he started asking me wat m i doing there n whereabouts does my hub’s family stay. it suddenly hit me tt i shldnt b talking to MALE strangers who is abt to take a 6hr flight w me gg to the same country while im alone, so i answered shortly n excused myself to the washroom.

there i gave away my sandwich to the cleaner who was only happy to receive it.

this made me realise how more diff it is to do charity, to trust, to share food. very unlike ahmad thompson’s time.

i also resolve to accept any other muslim’s offer of food even if i dont like it.

like the night before, nawal offered me fruits, i took the prune tho hesitantly since i was already full n i m not really a fruit lover.

but afterwards, she offered me a piece of sweet biscuit made of cashew n coconut. i tried to refuse politely but she insisted me to take it saying its sweet. i took n ate politely in return but took like 15min to finish it? LOL. But now i knew i had prolly made her happy by doing just tt.

the airport is so big, it took forever to reach gate c5, smtg like 20min walk? n the stores all look familiar n has several outlets tt for a moment i tot i was walking in circle. but at long last i reached the gate abt 8min b4 boarding time at 10am.

i dont know whether to feel awkward or thankful tt i was wearing a skirt n blouse instead of a shalwar kameez. i hv a feeling i might feel super embarassed if i had worn the latter but feel just as out of place in the current outfit.

Passengers lahore bound are mainly males. i wld put it as 80%. Only one other female was travelling alone the rest accompanied by hub n babies or parents.

Inevitably, i was seated next to a guy. Nope i really didnt talk to him excep to say sorry a couple of times to go to the bathroom. I had a window seat. Embarassed as i was, i still prefer to bother the aisle seated person than being bothered! haha selfish me.

TG 505 is so damn uncomfortable!! SIN – BKK plane was so much nicer! this is such an old unit. how could they put an old plane flight a long haul on a DAILY BASIS???? It was so stuffy… the head rest too straight. everything was wrong. They were playing Rush Hour 3, i didnt bother to watch as ive already seen it. Tried to sleep but it was TOO HOT.

After the movie’s finished, n w just 1 more hour to touch down, i asked my neighbour if he would mind me switching on the light n he said no not at all go ahead n so i brushed up on my Urdu.

To be continued….

Punjabi Suits Oder Update

Dear readers, clients n prospective customers,

Between visiting relatives and historical places as well as going to the doctor daily, i hv not much time to browse material, translate the measurements n whatever.

PLUS, w no internet connection to email my clients for their choices, n the MMS i sent were not received, it was then decided that we will courier the completed suits thru the national post services. bcos i dont wanna make the choice for my ready buyers. Although to me, it’d look perfect on them, diff pple still have diff tastes. so i shall leave it to them.

This also means tt i can take additional order for the materials not taken up by my confirmed customers.

please visit my multiply for pictures of the material. i dare say tt the camera wasnt able to capture the true design. but believe you me, i only take picture of those tt caught my eye.

you can say that mostly their printed designs are awfully too flowery n makcik2ly for my taste. so the modern ones ive snapped are quite the pearls in the ocean! hehe. only their embroidered ones are generally acceptable.

and as for material, i only look at lawns, leelons, georgette n chiffon. they are all soft n comfy material, Cotton is a strict no no. the last two generally have more stylish designs but are very thin n flimsy. However, it will feel alright when lined with a lawn or other material underneath.

Regarding prices….. i regret to announce that i hafta revise the price from $25 to $35.

This is bcos i quoted wo knowing the cost price n took from hearsay then i only gotta know that there’s an additional stitching/tailoring price of $20 from where my sister “imported” making it $45 when i finally did the math, it matched lah. And now we hafta add the courier costs too.

However, i can sell at $35 bcos we eliminate the middlemen. i dont make any profit at all, but shall give everything to Ammi ji.

I hope it is still within your range of budget considering that they are tailor made to suit just your size.

Love,
Julissa

PS: Deadline is Mon, 18th Feb 2008. n please allow 1 – 2 weeks of tailoring time, then another week to ship them over. thanks

Punjabi Suits continued…

Yayy!! Finally found the other design charts courtesy of this website:

My fav is sooooooo the Mandarin Collar!!

The ones you usually see selling at Tekkah will be the Calf Length

I think mine are mostly On the Knee kind

I’m soooooo loving the boot cut can???

Now on to materials…

I can just tell you about the kinds that i have. I hafta warn you first that it doesnt look so nice hung on hangers but work wonders when worn!

This is georgette.

Characteristics: Flimsy but can be lined. Thin. Cool

Cotton

Characteristics: Stiff. Medium Thick. Good to defend against strong winds. Shapes nicely for thin females. (Not me)

If i’m not wrong this is Chiffon.

Characteristics: Medium thick. COMFORTABLE! EXCELLENT to shape your tudung!

I sooo dont know what this is called.

Characteristics: Flimsy. Thin. Cooling. Too lembik/soft for tudung.

Nor this.

Characteristics: COOL!!! THIN!!! COMFORTABLE!!

i imagine it falls nicely on me! LOL ,… but even Zubair loves it! Bcos of the seductive neck style i suppose. This is the sweetheart neck with a string at the top teasing you. hehehe

To be honest, i tot the prints were a bit old fashioned at first, but after i wear it… i simply LOVE it!! VERY traditional without looking old.

Note that most of the back neck designs are round neck and about 1 or 2 inch deep / low. I prefer no depth actually as i feel insecure like that… as though it might slip or something!

Yeah you can say i am the MOST PARTICULAR person ever lived!

Lastly, some lehnga tips. Prolly share the same principles and can be applied to Shalwar Kameez

  1. If your height is short then look out for vertical prints with U neck or else square neck cut as they give you a taller appearance.
  2. Avoid short sleeves and in fact sleeveless is a total no for short heighted
  3. For disguising your short stature, drape dupatta in such a style that it flows from your shoulder to the knee.
  4. Don’t indulge in heavy work or heavy fabric dupatta.
  5. For women with extra inches on waist, the ideal is Kurti style hip-hop Choli in dark bright shades.
  6. Go in for sophisticated prints rather than complicated designs
  7. For plumpy people, multi-shaded wardrobe is not advisable <<– LOL, never liked it
  8. Go in for a long length choli for a slimmer look with a deep neck showing a bit of cleavage
  9. If you are plump, avoid sleeveless cuts <<— Err… not for us anyways
  10. Wear dark colors rather than going in for lighter shades and if you wish to wear lighter shades then prefer dull colors like instead of sky blue go in for dull blue or dirty blue. <<<– i cldnt agree more!
  11. Small prints and vertical line prints give a slimmer look
  12. Heavy built should avoid cotton sarees and Kota sarees and should instead attire oneself in Chiffon and Georgette sarees. <<– Yup, I cant do cotton either

This is from my previous research pre wedding. Unfortunately, i only saved the ones for short and plumpy stature. So no news for tall and skinny except that cotton is good for you gals.

Till then.
